Ti6Al4V DMLS Parts
Ti6Al4V (Grade 5) is the workhorse titanium alloy for DMLS — the highest strength-to-weight ratio material in the additive manufacturing catalog. 993–1,055 MPa UTS at 4.43 g/cm³. 30% lighter than stainless steel at comparable strength. Certified to AMS 4999 (aerospace) and ASTM F136 (medical, using ELI grade). Build envelopes to 400 × 400 × 450 mm. Stress relief and optional HIP available.
Medical Titanium Implants
Ti6Al4V ELI (extra-low interstitial, Grade 23) for implantable devices. DMLS enables patient-specific geometry from CT/MRI data, porous lattice surfaces (40–80% porosity, 400–700 µm pore size) for bone ingrowth, and complex internal channels for vascular access devices. ISO 13485 quality management. FDA 510(k) technical file documentation available.
Aerospace Titanium
Aerospace titanium printing delivers mass reduction while matching wrought mechanical performance. Topology optimization routinely achieves 30–60% mass reduction versus conventional machined equivalents. Hydraulic manifolds with internal channel networks, bracket clusters consolidated from 5+ machined parts to 1 DMLS part, and ducting with variable cross-section for thermal management. AMS 4999, AS9100D, NADCAP heat treatment certification available.
Post-Processing
Titanium DMLS post-processing: stress relief (800°C / 2h vacuum) mandatory before support removal → HIP (900°C / 100 MPa / 2h) for fatigue-critical applications → CNC machining on bearing surfaces and thread features → surface finishing. Type II anodizing for color-coding and mild corrosion protection. Type III hard anodize for wear surfaces. Electropolish for medical and food-contact applications.
